Easier Shoes for Arthritis and Reduced Hand Strength
Tying shoelaces asks a lot of your hands: pinching, gripping, looping and pulling tight, often while bending forward. For people living with arthritis, stiff or sore fingers, reduced hand strength, or limited mobility in the back and hips, that small daily task can be frustrating or painful.
No-tie laces take the tying out of it. Once they're in, your shoes slip on and off, so you can keep wearing the shoes you love without struggling with a bow.
How no-tie silicone laces help
- No bows, no knots. Tekkie Ties are stretchy silicone laces. They hold your shoe snug but stretch enough to let your foot slide in.
- Less bending and fiddling. Slip your foot in, use a shoehorn if that helps, and go. There's nothing to re-tie during the day.
- They don't loosen. The silicone keeps its stretch and shape, so the fit you set up stays the same.
- A neat look. They sit flat across the shoe, so they look tidy on sneakers and smart shoes alike.
Which laces to choose
- Adult Sneaker laces: 16 per pack, for everyday tekkies and walking shoes, in Black, White, Navy, Light Grey and Blush Pink.
- Formal laces: 12 per pack, for work and smart shoes, in Black or White.
- Fillers: single laces in Small, Medium or Large, to make one spot a little tighter or looser.
Setting up: ask someone to help once
Threading the laces is the only fiddly part, and you only do it once per pair. If your hands are sore, ask a family member or friend to help:
- Take out the old laces.
- Push each Tekkie Tie through a pair of eyelets.
- Snap the ends into place.
After that, the shoes are ready to slip on every day. Our install guide has tips on getting the fit just right.
A thoughtful gift
No-tie laces make a practical present for a parent, grandparent or anyone recovering from an injury or surgery who'd rather not bend down to tie their shoes. Online orders start at 2 packs, mixed however you like, so you can kit out two pairs at once.
Tekkie Ties are a convenience product, not a medical device. If you have questions about footwear for a specific condition, chat to your doctor, physiotherapist or occupational therapist.
